

Ultech Engineering proudly supported our principal partner, Mitsubishi Electric, at Automex 2024 from 15-18 May at MITEC, Kuala Lumpur. This year's exhibition was a resounding success, featuring seven cutting-edge demo kits and an engaging game kiosk to promote the ASEAN Championship Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2024. Here's a detailed look at the innovative product showcased by Mitsubishi Electric this year:



The collaborative robot MELFA Assista, equipped with an AI-powered vision system from Cognex, demonstrated a perfect blend of robotics and artificial intelligence. This demo showcased the robot's standard pick-and-place functionality enhanced by an AI vision system for simple inspection processes. The integration highlighted how AI can enhance precision and efficiency in automation tasks.

๐๐ซ๐จ๐๐ฎ๐๐ญ ๐๐ง๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง: This collaborative robot ASSISTA comes with safety collaborative mode. It can be paired with a gripper, vision, and force sensors for optimal functionality. Some of the common applications include pick and place, inspection, etc. Other advantages include the ease of programming using our proprietary software, RT VisualBox & the direct teaching function to lessen programming time and reduce the development cost.

MELSOFT MaiLab, a powerful data science tool, captivated attendees with its ability to provide recommendations to ensure production continuity. This year, the scenario exhibited in Automex was a simulation program developed by Mitsubishi Electric's Nagoya Data Scientist, showing that MaiLab can predict the correct kneading time based on collected historical data in a noodle-making process. This tool is invaluable for optimizing production processes and enhancing overall efficiency.

๐๐ซ๐จ๐๐ฎ๐๐ญ ๐๐ง๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง: The data analysis software, MELSOFT MaiLab, enables data utilization without special knowledge. It solves various challenges and further improves manufacturing. It uses digital technology and data utilisation to replace traditional methods requiring human resources, such as human experience and intuition. Some of its abilities include automatic creation using AI that lets even beginners in data analysis feel at ease, excellent waveform data processing, advanced data analysis and diagnosis all in one single tool, and last but not least, a high affinity with all other Mitsubishi Electric FA equipment.

This display featured GENESIS64 SCADA with OPC-UA (a product of Takebishi) connected to MOXA switches equipped with cybersecurity functions. The demo emphasized the importance of condition monitoring and robust cybersecurity measures in industrial environments. It showcased how real-time data monitoring and secure communication can safeguard operations and ensure continuous productivity.

๐๐ซ๐จ๐๐ฎ๐๐ญ ๐๐ง๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง: GENESIS64 is an advanced and cutting-edge HMI SCADA solution suite software from ICONICS that delivers real-time visualization, mobility, analytics, and connectivity to deliver a contextualized view of enterprise operations for manufacturing, industrial automation, and smart buildings customers. Some of the notable product features of GENESIS64 include visualizing assets with 2D and 3D graphics, utilizing object-oriented distributed alarm management, customizing asset and tag organization, configuring and developing in a web-based environment, commanding countless tools for visualizing data, and saving and exporting updated configurations.

The SWM-G demo showcased a sophisticated control system installed in an industrial PC, capable of controlling multiple servos. The highlight was the CC-Link IE TSN communication protocol, demonstrating the system's advanced networking capabilities and efficient servo control. This solution is ideal for complex motion control applications in various industrial settings.

๐๐ซ๐จ๐๐ฎ๐๐ญ ๐๐ง๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง: SWM-G is a Motion Control Software that works as a software-based controller for high-precision motion control. It is installed on a PC as an embedded type Servo System Controller. The idea of the SWM-G Motion Control Software is to cover a wide range of multi-axis applications, reduce machine design and startup time, and provide maintenance solutions when installed and operated on the MELPIC (industrial personal computer). The SWM-G Motion Control Software can perform numerous motion control functions, and together with MR Configurator2, enables users to easily set and adjust multiple servo amplifiers through CC-Link IE TSN, which enables mixing of TCP/IP communication and other communications.

Similar to the SWM-G, the SWM-G-N1 demo focused on showcasing EtherCat communication protocol. This demo was gamified, allowing visitors to experience programming the control system firsthand. The interactive nature of this demo provided an engaging way to understand the capabilities and flexibility of software-based motion control.

The difference with the SWM-G-N1 Motion Control Software is that it is also compatible with EtherCATยฎ.
The City Multi VRF demo featured an air conditioning unit designed for industrial or commercial buildings. This versatile system demonstrated Mitsubishi Electric's commitment to providing energy-efficient and reliable climate control solutions suitable for large-scale applications.

๐๐ซ๐จ๐๐ฎ๐๐ญ ๐๐ง๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง: Discover the Mitsubishi Electric City Multi VRF system, customised comfort and sophistication for multi-floor buildings and large indoor spaces. Experience unparalleled cooling comfort, substantial energy efficiency, and the convenience of a centralized air conditioning system. Connect multiple indoor units to one outdoor unit via two pipelines and joints. The outdoor unit uses an inverter-driven compressor that changes refrigerant flow according to the indoor unit.
Mitsubishi Electric's Niagara smart building management system was another highlight. This system integrates various building functions, providing a unified platform for monitoring and controlling HVAC, lighting, security, and other building systems. The demo showcased how the Niagara Framework can enhance building efficiency, comfort, and security.

Its multi-system control allows building managers to control a variety of mechanical systems from any manufacturer across multiple tenant spaces within the same building, multiple buildings on a site, and across multiple sites.


To promote the ASEAN Championship Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2024, the game kiosk featured a simple pairing game using the GOT2000 HMI and MELSEC FX PLC. This engaging activity attracted visitors and provided a fun way to learn about Mitsubishi Electric's automation solutions while celebrating the upcoming football championship.
