OGA 2024: Our second-year participation in the Oil and Gas Asia (OGA) exhibition was a key highlight, providing insights into the latest industry trends and reinforcing our role as a critical player in the oil and gas sector. During the OGA 2024, Ultech Engineering showcased the Remote IoT Net Zero Unmanned Platform. This showcase, created with the support of our principal partners, illustrated how modern automation and power management technologies can combine to drive industrial processes more sustainably and securely.

DEIF Genset Controller Training in Kuching, Bintulu, and Sabah: We hosted training sessions for the first time for participants in East Malaysia and at the same time deepened our team's expertise in Genset control systems, enhancing our service quality and technical capabilities.

PERKESO Career Fair: Attending this fair allowed us to connect with prospective talent, showing our commitment to fostering the next generation of engineering professionals.

Technical Workshops and Training: We also actively hosted and participated in various other activities and workshops, including the PLC Workshop for Siemens SIMATIC S7-1200, Generative AI Workshop, Adobe Premiere Pro Training for our marketing team, and a talk with Rockwell and KVC. These events supported our staff's continuous learning and kept us on the cutting edge of technological advancements.

STEM and ICETe Engagement at Curtin University: Serving as panel judges at Curtin’s STEM event and showcasing our renewable energy solutions at the ICETe conference allowed us to connect with diverse communities, advocating for the critical role of science, engineering, and renewable energy in shaping modern industries.

These events enabled us to strengthen our industry connections, exchange knowledge, and celebrate our shared achievements as a company.

Recap #3. Discover Ultech Engineering's All-New, Enhanced Website Experience

An important milestone this year was the launch of our newly designed website. The updated look and feel of the site provide a modern, user-friendly platform for our clients and stakeholders, offering easy access to information about our services, projects, and upcoming events. This digital transformation is part of our broader commitment to enhancing client interaction and reinforcing our reputation as an industry leader in the digital space.

Recap #4. Reflecting on Ultech Engineering Innovative Success Project Stories of 2024

Looking back on the projects we took on this past year, we see a range of successes and breakthroughs that would not have been possible without the skills and commitment of everyone. From advanced automation solutions to innovative engineering projects, our team has consistently delivered work that not only meets but often exceeds industry standards. Our partnerships with Mitsubishi Electric Factory Automation, Rockwell Automation, DEIF, and Weidmüller reinforce our ability to deliver exceptional quality while meeting the strict regulatory standards set by the industry. These affiliations also ensure that we stay on top of the latest technologies, allowing us to bring innovative solutions to our clients. Here are some of the significant projects we completed this year:

Project #1: 1206KVA/965KW Emergency Diesel Generator Set Control Panel for PGB Segamat:

This project involves the control system upgrade for a 1206KVA/965KW emergency diesel generator (genset) set control panel at the Segamat Compressor Station, operated by Petronas Gas Berhad. The generator control panel (GCP) uses a DEIF AGC150 that facilitates automatic power backup in the event of a mains power loss, with manual and automatic operations, synchronization, load management, and remote control capabilities.

Project #2: Vacuum Pressurization System for Bakun Hydroelectric Dam:

The Vacuum Pressurization System project for Bakun involves the design, installation, and commissioning of a new control system featuring an Air Filtration Unit (AFU) to regulate outlet pressure for the outgoing air supply using a Variable Speed Drive (VSD) within the Motor Control Cabinets (MCCs). The primary scope includes the integration and commissioning of the Motor Control Cabinet, MCC-CCR, and MCC-RIO1 panels, which are interconnected via three junction boxes. Additionally, the system is equipped with a motorized fire damper control mechanism to ensure damper activation in the event of a fire. Key components include a Siemens Simatic ET200SP, a PC for SCADA control, and an MTP1000 HMI interface for monitoring and operation.

Project #3: Vacuum Pump Skid Local Control Panel for X-FAB in Sarawak:

To support the end user’s facility expansion, which includes a new vacuum pump skid in their extended building, this project entails the supply, installation, and commissioning of three Local Control Panels (LCPs) connected to both the client’s vacuum pump skid and the main contractor's Starter Control Panels (SCPs) to manage pump operations efficiently. The job scope also covers cable laying and termination for pump skid instrumentation, along with provisions for integration with the end user’s Distributed Control System (DCS) to enable remote monitoring. Each LCP will be powered by a Siemens 1510SP PLC, ensuring robust and reliable control tailored to the facility’s operational demands.

Project #4: YD460 Centus Safina One MSB in partnership with Shin Yang Shipyard S/B:

For the YD460 Centus Safina One project in collaboration with Shin Yang Shipyard S/B, we developed a customized main switchboard (MSB) designed to meet the specific power requirements and operational challenges of maritime applications. The MSB is configured for an 80 kW power output at 415V, 50Hz, with a 3-phase, 4-wire system capable of handling up to 139A at a power factor of 0.8. This configuration ensures efficient power distribution and reliability essential for marine environments.

Project #5: Explosion-Proof Zone 2 Control Panel for Firewater Pump at Seligi Platform:

The current firewater pump control panel has become obsolete and is no longer safe. This project aims to design, install, and commission a new diesel-engine-driven firewater pump control panel suited for hazardous Zone 2 environments. Key features of the new system include operation control through a Siemens SIMATIC S7-1200 PLC, with visualisation and user interface provided by a SIMATIC Comfort Panel HMI. This setup will ensure enhanced reliability, safety, and ease of operation for firewater pump management in hazardous locations.

Project #6: CNC Router Machine Retrofit for Samling Housing Products Sdn. Bhd.:

This project addresses recurring downtime issues with an existing CNC router, compounded by limited support from the original Japanese supplier. The retrofit will replace the outdated GE Fanuc Servo Motor Control Panel and Servo Motors with the advanced Mitsubishi M80 series CNC System. The job scope includes the complete design, installation, and commissioning of a new control panel while decommissioning the old one. Key components for this upgrade include the Mitsubishi M80 series NC controller, NC Servo Drive, and NC Servo Motor, enhancing the machine's reliability, performance, and future serviceability.

Project #7: On-site System Improvement and Troubleshooting for Sea Hibiscus Sdn. Bhd.:

At the user’s site, each piece of equipment operates on standalone PLCs and controllers, creating communication gaps that complicate troubleshooting during downtime. This project aims to integrate these controllers into a unified main PLC, allowing centralized monitoring and alarms. The job scope covers modifications to the existing control panel, including wiring adjustments, PLC programming, and HMI graphic updates. Allen Bradley Control Logix and Compact Logix PLCs and a PanelView Plus 7 HMI and Prosoft Modbus card will facilitate improved communication and troubleshooting capabilities, ensuring all triggered alarms are visualized on a single HMI display.

Our involvement in these projects has strengthened our position as a versatile engineering leader, capable of tackling diverse challenges with precision, innovation, and attention to client-specific requirements.
