On 26-27 November 2024, Ultech Engineering hosted the 3rd installment of the 2-day DEIF Genset Controller Training at the Sabah Skills & Technology Centre in Kota Kinabalu. This training aims to offer a comprehensive understanding of DEIF Genset Controllers, focusing on both theoretical knowledge and hands-on application. The event is tailored for industry professionals looking to deepen their expertise in DEIF’s innovative technologies and broaden their technical skills.
This article provides a detailed breakdown of the agenda for each day of the training program, outlining the focus areas and the intended outcomes for participants.
The first day of the training is structured to provide participants with a thorough understanding of DEIF controllers and their applications. Here’s what the day looks like:
The training kicks off with participants arriving and registering for the event. This initial period serves as a time for attendees to get settled, network briefly, and familiarize themselves with the training environment.
The training then officially starts with opening remarks from the Ultech Engineering team, introducing the company and setting the tone for the event. This session aims to give participants a sense of Ultech Engineering’s mission, projects, and role as a partner of DEIF. After that, there was a safety briefing conducted by our hosts, Sabah Skills, to address protocol for potential emergencies.
Following the introduction, DEIF’s representatives then provided an overview of the company’s product range, focusing on the SGC (Smart Genset Controller) and AGC (Advanced Genset Controller) series. This presentation delves into the key functionalities of specific models such as:
The presentation emphasizes on the versatility and innovative features of each controller, giving participants a holistic view of DEIF’s offerings and their potential applications in various industries.
Participants then have an opportunity to take a break, refresh themselves, and engage in networking. This informal setting allows attendees to exchange insights and experiences with fellow industry professionals.
In the next session, the focus shifts to Land Applications, exploring the following functionalities in depth:
These topics are essential for participants to grasp the controllers’ core applications and understand how to implement them effectively in their projects.
The networking luncheon provides participants with a chance to continue discussions from the morning sessions in a relaxed setting. These interactions foster valuable professional connections that extend beyond the training itself.
The afternoon session resumes with a focus on more complex applications:
Another short break allows participants to recharge and network with each other before diving into the final session of the day.
The day concludes with a session on advanced functionalities and the Graphical User Interface (GUI) of DEIF controllers. This part of the training will demonstrate how users can leverage the GUI to monitor, control, and optimize operations. Understanding the graphical interface is crucial for enhancing usability and efficiency.
The day ended with an interactive Q&A session, providing participants with an opportunity to clarify any doubts and engage directly with the trainers. This wrap-up serves as a recap of the day’s content and sets expectations for Day Two’s hands-on activities.
While Day One laid the theoretical groundwork, Day Two focuses on giving participants practical experience with DEIF controllers.
The second day begins with an introduction to DEIF’s Utility Software, highlighting its role in configuring and managing genset controllers. This session includes:
Participants take a short break to recharge and engage in informal conversations.
The next session dives into the practical side of software configuration. Participants are guided through setting up a project in DEIF’s Utility Software, including:
The networking luncheon provides an opportunity for participants to discuss what they’ve learned so far and exchange insights with each other.
In the afternoon, the focus shifts to a hands-on exercise where participants will connect and configure the SGC Smart Connect controllers. This segment includes:
This session is designed to give participants the confidence to work with the controllers independently and troubleshoot issues effectively.
After the hands-on practice, participants take a break to refresh and discuss their experiences.
The final practical session focuses on combining different applications to demonstrate how DEIF controllers can be used in complex scenarios. Participants will see firsthand how multiple functionalities can be integrated to create robust power management solutions.
The training concludes with a final Q&A session, allowing participants to ask any remaining questions. Trainers from DEIF and Ultech Engineering will be on hand to provide detailed answers and additional insights. The day ends with closing remarks and a summary of key takeaways from the training.
Throughout the two-day training, participants gain:
Participants were encouraged in advance (via WhatsApp Groups) to bring their own laptops to install two key DEIF software applications, which will be provided during the training. This preparation ensures a smooth, hands-on experience and allows participants to follow along with the practical exercises.
However, for those participants who do not own any laptops, recording of the demo is permitted. We also encouraged those who do not own laptops and are attending the training with their colleagues to share and train together for the hands-on experience of programming the controllers on laptops.
