Ultech Engineering is proud to be part of the IEEE Virtual Career Fair 2025, an event hosted by IEEE Young Professionals Region 10 in collaboration with the IEEE Industry Engagement Committee and the IEEE Student Branch. This virtual fair serves as a dynamic bridge between academia and industry, offering students, graduates, and job seekers the opportunity to interact directly with companies shaping the future of engineering and technology. For Ultech, joining this fair represents a natural extension of our mission to connect with young professionals while showcasing career pathways within the company.

Who We Are: IEEE Young Professionals Region 10

IEEE

The IEEE Young Professionals Region 10 (R10 YP) represents early-career members across the Asia–Pacific, supporting individuals as they transition from student life into professional careers. As part of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the world’s largest technical professional organisation, R10 YP provides networking, leadership, and skill-building opportunities to engineers and technologists in 57 sections across more than 17 countries. Through initiatives such as career development programs, workshops, and collaborative projects, the group empowers young professionals to grow, connect, and contribute to advancing technology for the benefit of society.

Ultech and IEEE: Collaborating to Shape Future Engineers

Ultech’s involvement in the IEEE Virtual Career Fair builds on its history of meaningful collaboration with IEEE. Ultech has consistently supported IEEE clubs and student bodies by providing practical exposure to industrial technologies. One example of this partnership was the Siemens SIMATIC S7-1200 PLC workshop, conducted in collaboration with the IEEE Club at Curtin University Malaysia. The workshop provided students with valuable insights into PLC systems, enabling them to gain hands-on experience that complemented their academic studies.

Another highlight of this partnership was the CARL Project in Curtin University Malaysia, which was carried out in two phases. In the first phase, Ultech Engineering led the automation side by supplying sensors, control panels, and managing the installation work. The IEEE Club at Curtin University Malaysia took the lead in developing the HMI and PLC programming, creating an effective blend of industry expertise and academic innovation. These initiatives not only showcased Ultech’s dedication to building future-ready engineers but also highlighted our role as a bridge between theoretical learning and real-world application.

Ultech’s Virtual Booth: Bringing Careers and Innovation Online

To ensure that Ultech made a strong impression during the fair, we carefully designed its virtual booth, guided by a structured seven-step setup. The booth began with a clear company introduction, providing participants with an overview of Ultech’s history, expertise, and focus areas. It was then brought to life visually with a design selected from seventeen custom concepts, ultimately chosen for its resemblance to Ultech’s booth at OGA 2025 and its strong reflection of the company’s identity and achievements. To provide candidates with access to additional resources, the booth featured direct links to Ultech’s official website, including the About UsProjects, and News pages, as well as our social media channels on YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok.

A dedicated section of the booth was devoted to documents and multimedia, where visitors could download the company profile or view selected videos. These included a recap of the first-ever free Mitsubishi Electric Inverter FREQROL FR-D700 training at IEM Miri 2025, highlights from the Datuk Sebastian Career Fair 2025, where Ultech showcased its roles and vacancies, and a project feature on Ultech’s role at X-Fab, demonstrating how its vacuum pump control system improved efficiency in the semiconductor industry.

The booth also incorporated the latest job vacancy listings, ensuring candidates could immediately explore career opportunities within Ultech. Finally, dedicated booth representative accounts were set up to allow direct engagement with visitors throughout the event. Together, these elements ensured our booth was not only informative but also interactive and professional, mirroring the experience of an in-person career fair.

Getting Booth-Ready with IEEE’s Recruiter Onboarding

Ahead of the fair, on 7th August, Ultech representatives participated in a Google Meet onboarding session organised by IEEE. The session served as a guided walkthrough of the virtual platform. It familiarised us with the navigation system, demonstrated how to manage booth content, and explained the best practices for engaging with candidates online. This session was a valuable preparation step, ensuring our team was fully equipped to manage its booth smoothly and deliver a positive experience for participants during the event.

Ultech at the IEEE Virtual Career Fair: Connecting Talent with Opportunity

On August 15, when the IEEE Virtual Career Fair officially opened, Ultech representatives were virtually present at the booth from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, ready to welcome visitors and respond to inquiries throughout the day. The fair featured a diverse group of exhibitors from India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and the UAE/Pakistan, including Normality Technologies Private Limited, TeraLumen Solutions, Antano & Harini LLP (School of Excellent Group), Reviewbah Sdn Bhd, The Idea Tribe, Formeta PLT, IFS R&D International Pvt Ltd, MQS Technologies, IXD Labs, RoboticGen, Agensi Pekerjaaan IDEX Sdn Bhd, and Tech Inoviq Solutions Fz LLC. Against this vibrant backdrop, Ultech presented itself as a trusted provider of industrial automation and engineering solutions, engaging with candidates interested in these growing fields.

As part of our participation, Ultech also announced two exciting career opportunities open to candidates, reinforcing the company’s commitment to supporting local talent. The first role, Electrical & Control Engineer, involves PLC programming and troubleshooting, assisting senior engineers with project execution, and interpreting electrical drawings while being flexible to travel to project sites. Candidates are expected to hold a degree or diploma in electrical or electronic engineering, demonstrate proficiency in AutoCAD, and possess strong computer programming skills. Fluency in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Mandarin is required, alongside detail orientation, creative problem-solving abilities, and good manual dexterity for hands-on work.

The second opportunity, Automation & Control Engineer, shares many responsibilities with the electrical and control role but emphasises further involvement in automation projects. Candidates must likewise have a degree or diploma in electrical or electronic engineering, strong knowledge of programming and design tools, and proficiency in AutoCAD. As with the other vacancy, Ultech is seeking multilingual ability, adaptability, and teamwork in potential hires.

Beyond highlighting these openings, Ultech’s participation provided candidates with the opportunity to learn more about Ultech Engineering, while also enhancing our visibility among a broader talent pool. The fair offered an avenue to connect with aspiring engineers and reinforce Ultech’s positioning as a forward-looking engineering company that invests in people as much as in technology.

Ultech’s Commitment to Growing Local Engineering Talent

Ultech Engineering’s participation in the IEEE Virtual Career Fair 2025 concluded with encouraging engagement and valuable insights. Over the course of the event, our virtual booth attracted 191 visitors, some explored our resources, downloaded documents, and watched our videos. The chat function proved especially effective, generating 53 conversations that allowed us to directly address candidate questions and share more about career pathways at Ultech.

Our job postings for Automation & Control Engineer and Electrical & Control Engineer drew interest, receiving a combined total of 19 applications. While the fair attracted a highly international audience—particularly from India and Sri Lanka—the experience reaffirmed Ultech's strong visibility as an employer of choice in the field of industrial automation and control. At the moment, Ultech has emphasised that the recruitment applies specifically to Sarawakian candidates, aligning with our focus on strengthening the local engineering workforce. Importantly, it provided us with an avenue to assess diverse talent, refine our recruitment outreach, and continue focusing on opportunities for Sarawakian engineers in future hiring rounds.

By investing in these interactions and showcasing our expertise to a global audience, Ultech demonstrated its ongoing commitment not only to growing local talent but also to positioning Sarawak as a hub for engineering excellence. This career fair was more than a recruitment exercise—it was a platform to strengthen Ultech’s presence, inspire young professionals, and lay the groundwork for future collaborations between academia and industry.
